not the obligation) to repurchase your items at any time up
to 6 months from the agreement at a pre-agreed figure.

identification is produced to support all private purchase/part
exchanges, (yes, even if we know you personally).

We only consider buying items if you are over 18 years of age.


Diamond Grading
A diamond grading is 'simply' an opinion of the specifications
of the stone and anyone can grade a diamond, regardless of
qualification or experience.

It follows that to have any credence, a diamond must be
graded by a highly experienced and qualified independent
gemmologist under perfect laboratory conditions. Furthermore,
many of the 'gradings' accompanying diamonds set in jewellery
for sale definitely HAVEN'T been appraised in this way and are
at best slightly biased (being the opinion of the seller) but in
many cases not worth the paper they are printed on.
Bear in mind the following when considering purchasing
'graded' diamond jewellery:

• The stone must be graded loose from the setting.
  Diamond grading is a precise art and a mount can hide
  a multitude of sins. A stated quality estimated with the
  stone in a mount can only be considered an opinion of
  quality, NOT an accurate grading.


• The stone should be graded to internationally accepted
  and recognised diamond grading protocol (i.e. G.I.A./CIBJO).


• The grading should be carried out under laboratory
  conditions by an experienced and qualified gemmologist.
  
  The best diamond reports are signed by the gemmologist
  who appraised the stone and include contact details of
  the laboratory where the work was carried out.


• A quality documented grading for your diamond is
  effectively a 'log book', detailing every individual
  characteristic and feature. This can be invaluable should
  you ever have to prove ownership or wish to sell the stone.


• Although here at Arthur Read Jeweller we are fully
  qualified in all aspects of gemmology and diamond
  appraisal, we have the majority of our bigger stones
  appraised and documented by leading independent
  laboratories, thereby assuring you of the very best
  standard of impartial opinion of quality.
  
  

Savings Scheme
Our constantly changing selection of fine quality jewellery
includes many items that are totally unique or at least
unrepeatable at that price. Therefore rather than miss a
special item, reserve it with a small deposit and complete
payment at your leisure with no additional charges;
all we ask is that payment is completed within a year.

Every item purchased from Arthur Read Jeweller, new or old,
is guaranteed for at least 12 months (in the unlikely event of
any problems developing, the purchase receipt must be
presented after which you have the choice of repair,
replacement or refund).

All jewellery is perfectly presented in a quality presentation
box with free gift wrapping on request.

Valuation
For a small additional charge we will prepare a Certificate of
Ownership complete with digital photograph for any item
purchased from Arthur Read Jeweller. These documents have
